Hello, I’m Jane Dickson,
I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor and Supervisor. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I practice in accordance to the BACP ethical framework.
As College Counsellor I provide a safe, and confidential setting where students can talk about any emotional difficulties, concerns or worries that they may be experiencing in a person-centered and non-judgmental way.
Counselling can help students explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours so that they can develop a better understanding of themselves and of others. I provide counselling support for a range of issues including anxiety, depression stress, anger management, trauma, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, phobias, sexuality and gender, relationships, abuse, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, self-harm.
I firmly believe that people need to be listened to and understood. I aim to provide a helpful, warm and supportive environment in which students can explore any difficulties that they may have, and I hope that students find the counselling a positive and beneficial experience.
If a student would like to request counselling support whilst they are studying at college they can either complete a self-referral form, which is available on the student portal, alternatively, students can speak to any of their tutors who will be able to complete a referral request on their behalf.
