Performing Arts (Musical Theatre): Audition Information

Due to the current situation, we can’t hold our auditions in college, therefore we are asking you to record your audition and send it to us.

For BTEC Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) you will need to record and upload three separate videos.

  • Your monologue.
  • Your song (please use a backing track to accompany your voice)
  • A short routine from Footloose AND demonstrate the centre kicks & travel steps from the corner. You will find these on the Virtual Priestley page.

Please state your name at the beginning of each recording.

Before the monologue please say the name of the play, playwright and character.

Before the song please say the name of the song and the musical it is from.

Please use the previous guidance on Virtual Priestley to help you prepare your audition.

There are a few important guidelines that we need you to follow –

Please make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and are in a workable space.
Check your background, don’t have anything in view that you don’t want us to see.
Please do not record yourself in your bedroom, use a less personal space.
Please make sure you say your name before you begin each recording.
You will need to upload your audition to us between Monday 6th and Wednesday 8th July and we will post guidance on how to do this the week before.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with the team:

Abbie (Acting) a.rippon@priestley.ac.uk
Sarah or Sara (Singing) s.graham@priestley.ac.uk or s.whittaker@priestley.ac.uk
Nancy (Dance) n.serjeant@priestley.ac.uk

Good luck and we look forward to seeing your work.

The resources below are here to help you with this session. The documents can be downloaded to your device and web links can be viewed online.

What to do when you're finished ?

Keep a copy of your work safe until your first days at college. Bring it with you for your first lesson in this subject.

My To Do List

This list shows you all of the different activites available through Virtual Priestley. You can tick them off as you go.
