Music Courses: Getting Started

Hello and welcome to Music & Music Tech at Priestley.

Over the coming weeks we’d like to get to know you a bit better. We’re sure you will want to find out more about the Music department and staff at Priestley too. Each week there will be different activities and helpful information to make sure that when you start with us on a full-time course you can be fully prepared and you have a chance to ask any of the questions you might have about our different Music pathways.

This week we’d like to start with the following steps:

  1. Watch the intro video in our Virtual Priestley Video playlist for Music > Music playlist videos
  2.   Fill in the “getting to know you” survey > https://forms.gle/V2VVXdJaiXxKKGoJ6
  3. Join our virtual ‘Bandlab” class > https://edu.bandlab.com/join/obkicbm

(All our videos are available on the youtube playlist which is being updated weekly)

Bandlab is a brilliant piece of software which will allow you to make and share music in the cloud using just a web browser. It’s free to sign up and we’ve created some fun activities for you to try out. The links we have provided for our video playlist on Youtube will also give you some tips and instructions to get you started with this awesome resource.

– Click on “start as student”

– Create a new Bandlab account with your own email address and details

4.  If you are hoping to study a pathway involving performance it’s a good idea to watch the “first steps for your audition” video in Music’s YouTube Playlist. The Auditions won’t be for a few weeks yet but it will be helpful to start thinking about what you might need to prepare in advance.

If you have any questions about Music Pathways and study options at Priestley please get in touch with m.grainger@priestley.ac.uk or c.dodd@priestley.ac.uk

We look forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks.
